Beef Filled Biscuit Roll-Ups

PASTRY
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
FILLING
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup cooked ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper Recipe
Biscuits: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk to make a soft dough. On a lightly floured board, roll dough into a 1/4-inch-thick rectangle.
Preheat oven to 400F. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick vegetable spray. Brush dough with melted butter. Combine beef, egg, salt, and pepper; spread over dough. Roll up, jelly-roll fashion. Cut into 6 slices. Place, cut-side down, on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
