2 pounds round steak
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 red onion sliced
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon mustard
1 bay leaf
2 whole cloves
4 spiced onions
12 strips pimiento Recipe
Cut steak into 4 pieces; rub with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, melt butter; add meat and brown on both sides.� Remove meat to a platter. Add sliced onion to skillet; cook until lightly browned.� Remove from skillet. Add water to skillet, scraping up any brown bits.�
Return meat to skillet; cover with onions.� Add vinegar, mustard, bay leaf, and cloves.� Cover; simmer 1-1/2 hours or until meat is tender, turning every 30 minutes.� Remove steaks to a serving platter. Remove bay leaf and cloves.� Place onions on platter with steaks.� Garnish with spiced onion and pimiento strips.
