Chicken Breasts in Wine Sauce

6 skinless chicken breast halves
1 can cream of mushroom soup
4 ounces cooking sherry or wine
2 ounces grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon pepperRecipe
Melt the stick of butter in the frying pan, being careful not to burn it. Add the chicken breasts, slat and pepper then raise the heat to medium and cook until the breasts are browned (about 4-5 minutes). Combine the rest of the ingredients in the mixing bowl and add them to the pan when the chicken is cooked. Lower the fire (for the chicken, not yourselves) and continue cooking for about 30 minutes, checking occasionally. When the sauce begins to darken, It's ready.
