    Recipe Introduction

(notes below are Kevin Taylor's notes as posted at recipegoldmine)

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb. ground beef
    1 medium onion chopped
2 cans tomato soup (Campbell's ONLY!!)
    1 can water
    1 small can tomatoes crushed
    1 T. cumin powder
    2 tsp. crushed red pepper
    5 T. chili powder
    1 can kidney beans
    1 T. pepper
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cayenne pepper

    Recipe

This is a chili recipe that Mom made for years. She always served it with onion bread (see below). I like my things hot so have adapted it somewhat. This has won several First Place awards in chili cook-offs. For my friends from Texas you can leave the beans out!! You MUST use Campbell's tomato soup for this recipe!! The red pepper I use is the same as they use at the pizza joints. Brown beef, onion, cumin and red pepper. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for an hour. Increase/decrease cayenne and chili powder to taste. This recipe is pretty hot as it is......you may want to eliminate the red peppers and go light on the cayenne...you can always add it later.

    Onion Bread
    1/2 stick butter
    1/2 pkg. onion soup mix
Mix together and spread on crusty bread. Broil until golden brown.
