1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons chili powder
6 tablespoons flour
garlic, salt and pepper
1 quart water
12 corn tortillas
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 1/2 cups grated longhorn cheese
Recipe
Braise ground beef in shortening. Add chili, flour and other seasonings. Cook 5 more minutes. Add water and bring to a boil. Cook 8 to 10 minutes. Dip tortillas in hot deep fat. Build up alternate layers of tortillas, onion, cheese and chili in an 8 inch deep casserole. Bake at 375ºF for 20 to 25 minutes until bubbly. 6 servings.
