Tomato: Cream of Tomato Soup

2 cups cooked tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 onion, diced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
1 quart milk
Recipe
Cook onion slowly in butter; add flour and seasoning. Add 2/3 cup hot milk; blend well. Add remaining milk gradually, stirring constantly. Heat tomatoes, add baking soda. When bubbling stops, add the tomatoes to the white sauce.
