    Sausage Hunter's Stew

    List of Ingredients

    2 pounds sauerkraut
    1/2 pound mushroom, sliced
    1 apple, sliced
    20 ounces whole tomatoes
    5 peppercorns
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 cup water
    1 cup sausage, sliced
    1/2 pound pork strips, sliced
    1/2 pound bacon, chopped
    6 potatoes
    6 cups water
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 tablespoon dillweed

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Drain sauerkraut. Arrange the sauerkraut in a large baking dish layered with sliced mushrooms, sliced apple, whole tomatoes (drained), peppercorns, bay leaf, and water. Cover and bake for 15 minutes. Add sliced sausage, sliced pork strips, and chopped bacon. Bake for 1 hour longer.

    Meanwhile, boil peeled potatoes in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Add butter and dillweed and let stand covered for 5 minutes. Serve the potatoes alongside the pork mixture. Serves 6.
