Canned Spaghetti Sauce

Recipe Introduction
Original poster notes: My family likes this sauce better than any bought in the store.
List of Ingredients
4 gallons tomatoes
4 large sweet green peppers, chopped
3 lb. onions, chopped
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
4 (12 oz. ) cans tomato paste
1 tbl. oregano
1 tbl. sweet basil
1 pint Crisco cooking oil
Recipe
1. Cook tomatoes for 30 minutes and run through colander for juice.
2. Add peppers, chopped onions, sugar, salt, granulated garlic, tomato paste, oregano, sweet basil and Crisco oil to juice.
3. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours until desire thickness is reached.
4. Put into hot jars and seal.
5. This makes 10 to 12 quarts.
6. Process in hot water bath a few minutes.
7. Hint: If not thick enough when preparing spaghetti I add a 3 oz.
8. can of tomato paste before serving.
9. May also add fried hamburger meat when ready to use.
