Measure and set aside the sugar. Rinse, drain, crush and measure berries into large (4-6 quart) stainless steel kettle. Add pectin. Stir to dissolve pectin while bringing mixture to a hard boil. Then add sugar all at once. Keep stirring. When mixture reaches a fast rolling boil, begin counting time. Boil for just 1 minute. Remove from heat, quickly skim off foam and pour jam into 1/8" of top of half pint jars. Wipe off any jam on top or threads of jar. Screw band on tight. Invert jar as it is closed. When all have been sealed, set them upright to cool.
