Cookie: Gingerbread Cookie Mix

2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

In large bowl, combine all; store in airtight container. Gift mix can be packed in cellophane bags with cookie cutters tied to a ribbon. Make small muslin bags with a drawstring to hold package of mix. Using fabric paints, stencil a gingerbread man to front of bag and tie with ribbon. Attach a gingerbread-man cookie cutter and the gift tag instructions to the ribbon.
Gingerbread Cookies (makes 3 dozen): 1 package gingerbread cookie mix, 1/2 c. molasses, 1/2 c. butter softened, 1/4 c. hot water. Preheat oven to 375ºF. Place the gingerbread cookie mix in a large bowl, and add the molasses butter and water. Beat the mixture until it is smooth. Refrigerate the dough for 2 hours. Cut the dough into quarters and work with 1/4 at a time. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured board. Cut into assorted shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Cool 2 minutes and then move to wire rack to cool further. Repeat with remaining dough.
