Scottish Tea Scones

3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon lemon rind
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup evaporated milkRecipe
Mix first 5 ingredients together. Cut in 1/2 cup shortening with fork or pastry blender. Stir in egg and evaporated milk until mixture holds together. Pat into a 10 inch circle on a cookie sheet, roll flat. Smooth edges. Cut before baking into 6 wedges. Bake at 350ºF for 20-25 minutes. Cool slightly. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm with butter.
