    Pilaf: Orzo Pilaf

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup orzo pasta
    2 1/3 cups chicken stock
    2 scallions, fine chopped
    1 clove garlic, fine minced
    seasoned salt, pepper, turmeric to taste
    1 tablespoon dill, oregano, basil or parsley
    1 teaspoon olive oil

    Recipe

    In a large, deep sided, skillet over medium high heat, heat up oil and saute uncooked Orzo, onion, garlic and seasonings. Cook a few minutes until the Orzo changes color. Stir constantly. Add stock and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer 12 to 14 minutes until liquid is absorbed. Stir it occasionally. Serve hot.

    Serving Suggestions: Depending on the herbs you use you can flavor this dish to match with any meal. You can even turn it into an entire meal by itself by adding protein like ground chicken, turkey or beef, sliced pork, or even pieces of turkey bacon. It is a nice change from mashed potatoes.
