    Brownies are essentially a cake that failed. Because they don't rise much, they are almost impossible to screw up.

    1/4 c butter
    1/2 cup flour
    2 oz unsweetened chocolate
    1 tsp vanilla
    2 eggs 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 cups sugar
    a greased 8 inch square baking dish

    Recipe



    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Melt the butter and chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler. Stir in the sugar amd beat in the eggs. Add the flour, salt, vanilla and nuts and mix with a wooden spoon. Pour into the baking pan and bake about 30-35 minutes, until the top is dry to the touch. Remove from the oven and cut into squared while still rarm. When cool remove from the pan with a spatula and store in a covered container.
