    4 medium potatoes
    4 Tb butter
    salt and pepper

    Using a grater, grate the potatoes into long thin strips. Melt the butter in a large cast iron frying pan. Add the potatoes and cook over medium heat until the bottom is browned. Turn the entire patty as a single unit. Reduce he at and cover and cook for 15 minutes. Uncover, raise the heat and brown on the second side. Serve with steak, veal Swiss style or ground beef.
