    Cherry: Cherry Chewbilees

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup walnut pieces
    16 ounces cream cheese
    1 1/4 cups flour
    2/3 cup sugar
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup butter Crisco
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1/2 cup flake coconut
    1 21 ounce can cherry pie filling

    Recipe

    Heat oven to 350ºF. Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in Butter Crisco until fine crumbs form. Add 1/2 C. finely chopped nuts and coconut. Mix well. Remove 1/2 C. Press remaining crumbs in bottom of grease 13x9 pan. Bake at 350ºF for 12-15 minutes. Beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla at medium speed. When smooth, spread over crust. Return to oven; bake 15 minutes. Spread cherry pie filling over cheese layer. Mix 1/2 C. coarsely chopped nuts with reserved crumbs. Sprinkle over cherries. Bake 15 minutes. Cool. Refrigerate several hours. Cut into 2"x1 1/2" bars. 36 bars.
