Coconut: Almond Coconut Bars

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup shredded coconutRecipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8x8 inch baking pan. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Melt butter in large saucepan. Stir in brown sugar. Lightly beat in egg and almond extract. Mix coconut with dry ingredients and gradually add to butter-sugar mixture. (batter will be stiff). Spread in pan. Bake 35 minutes or until brown. Cool 10 minuates in pan; remove from pan and cool on wire rack. Cut into 24 bars.
