    1/4 cup instant coffee granules
    1 tablespoon boiling water
    1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons butter or   margarine, softened
    1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1-1/2 cups self-rising flour
    1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
    1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate morsels

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.
    In a cup, dissolve coffee granules in boiling water.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Beat in egg, vanilla, and coffee mixture.  Stir in flour until blended.  Stir in pecans and chocolate morsels.  Spread in prepared baking pan.

    Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a tester inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Cut crosswise in 8 strips.  Cut the strips into thirds.
