Mocha Pecan Bars

1/4 cup instant coffee granules
1 tablespoon boiling water
1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons butter or � margarine, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups self-rising flour
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate morsels Recipe
Preheat oven to 350�F.� Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.
In a cup, dissolve coffee granules in boiling water.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.� Beat in egg, vanilla, and coffee mixture.� Stir in flour until blended.� Stir in pecans and chocolate morsels.� Spread in prepared baking pan.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a tester inserted in center comes out clean.� Cool in pan on a wire rack.� Cut crosswise in 8 strips.� Cut the strips into thirds.
