Almond: Norwegian Almond Bars

1 3/4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup ground almonds
1 cup softened butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg white
3/4 cup sliced almonds
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, ground almonds, butter, egg, cinnamon and salt. Beat at low speed until well mixed, 2-3 minutes. Divide dough in half. Press each half onto a cookie sheet to 1/16 inch thickness. In a bowl, beat egg white with fork until foamy. Brush over dough; sprinkle with almonds. Bake 12-15 minutes or until very lightly browned. Immediately cut into 2 inch squares and remove from pan. Cool; store tightly covered container.
