Amish Wedding Cake

List of Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup pecans
1 cup water
1 cup dates
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon butter
1 large egg
1 large cont Cool Whip
1 large pack instant vanilla pudding mix
5 large ripe bananas
Recipe
Combine together flour, sugar, egg, vanilla, and nuts. Set aside. To 1 Cup boiling water add dates, soda, and butter. Set aside and allow to cool. Add date mixture to flour mixture. Bake in 13 " X 9" baking pan for about 30 minutes in a preheated 350¼F oven. (To save time this can be done ahead of time and frozen)
After the cake has cooled, crumble into bit size pieces into a large container. Divide Cake, Pudding Mixture and Bananas into thirds. Mix Cool Whip and Instant Pudding...DO NOT USE ANY MILK . On top of your cake slice the bananas. Then top with the Pudding mixture. If you are using a deep bowl instead of a flat dish make six layers instead of the three. Top with your favorite garnish...i use more chopped nuts, or marsarino cherries. Cover and Chill overnight.
