1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar on high until fluffy. Add eggs, one at time, beating well after each. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Pour into three greased and floured 8" cake pans. Bake at 375ºF for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool cakes completely before icing.
