Chocolate: Extra Rich Chocolate Cake

2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
12 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons sugar
4 eggs beaten well
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup boiling water


Recipe

Sift flour once. Measure and add soda, cocoa and salt. Sift together 3 times. Cream butter; add sugar and cream until light. Add eggs, then cream again. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Add vanilla and boiling water. Bake in greased pans at 375�F until done. Yields four 8" layers.
