Chocolate: Favorite Chocolate Cake

4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate cut up
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 cups flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon lemon juice or distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Recipe
MICROWAVE baking bars in small, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth; cool to room temperature. BEAT sugar and butter in large mixer bowl. Add flour, milk, water, eggs, lemon juice, vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda and salt; beat on low speed until blended. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Beat in melted chocolate.
POUR into two well-greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans or one 13 x 9-inch baking pan. BAKE in preheated 350ºF. oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 20 minutes; invert onto wire racks to cool completely.
