Chocolate: Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

List of Ingredients

3/4 cup Hot water
3 Squares chocolate melted (3 oz)
1/2 cup Shortening
1/4 teaspoon Salt
2 1/2 cups Sugar
3 Large eggs
3 3/4 cups Sifted cake or pastry flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 cup Sour cream


Recipe

Add water to chocolate, simmer while stirring, until thick, cool. Blend shortening and salt, add sugar and cream thoroughly. Beat in eggs. Add sifted flour and soda alternately with cream. Stir in chocolate, mixing well. Bake in greased pan in moderate oven, 350ºF about 45 minutes or until it tests done. Frost with favorite frosting.
