    Upside Down: Cherry Upside-Down Cake

    List of Ingredients

    TOPPING:
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 cups sour cherries

    CAKE:
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    1/2 cup milk
    3 tablespoons shortening, melted

    Recipe

    Melt the 1/4 c. butter in a 9" pan. Add cherries mixed with the 1/2 c. sugar. To make cake, mix the flour, 1/2 c. sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 c. milk and 3 tablespoons of melted shortening. Bake about 30 minutes in a 400ºF oven. IMMEDIATELY after baking, invert and put on a serving plate.
