Pound Cake: Moist Chocolate Pound Cake

1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs, room temperature
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
Recipe
Tips: Grease the pan well including the center post. To keep the deep brown color on the outside, flour the tube pan with cocoa powder instead of white flour. On a piece of wax paper or use a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa. Set aside. In the mixer bowl, beat butter & shortening until light & fluffy. Slowly add sugar while beating. Add eggs, one at a time, beating one minute after each. Beat in vanilla.
Divide flour mixture into 3 equal parts. Your will alternate the flour mixture and the milk. Beat 1/3 of the flour mixture into creamed butter and sugar. Beat in 1/2 Cup of milk. Continue alternating until the flour mixture is the last. Grease and flour a 10" tube cake pan. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth. Bake in pre-heated oven at 325ºF for 80 minutes. Cool in pan for 10-15 minutes and turn out. Let cool completely.
