Whole Wheat Walnut Crumb Cake

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
CAKE:
2 cups wheat flour
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 egg
Glaze: 3/4 c. powder sugar+ 1-2 tbl water
Recipe
Grease and flour a 13x9 inch pan. Heat oven to 350ºF. In small bowl, mix streusel ingredients till well blended and set aside. In large bowl, combine all cake ingredients, beating at low until moistened, then at medium speed for 2 minutes. Spread half of batter into pan; sprinkle half of streusel mix evenly over batter. Carefully spread remaining batter over streusel. Sprinkle with remaining streusel mix. Bake at 350ºF for 25-35 minutes or till toothpick comes out clean. In small bowl, combine powdered sugar with enough water for desired drizzling consistency; blend till smooth and drizzle over warm cake. Yield: 16 servings.
