Taffy: Basic Walnut Taffy

2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
Recipe
Boil molasses, sugar, salt, milk, water, and butter to hard ball stage (265 ~ 270ºF). Add flavoring. Spread nuts over the bottom of a well-buttered pan. Pour taffy over nuts. Cool. Pull until stiff and creamy. Cut in 1-inch pieces.
