List of Ingredients
2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
2 cups light brown sugar
3/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
2 egg whites
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup nuts, choppedRecipe
Melt baking chocolate in top of double boiler over hot water. Combine sugar, water and chocolate syrup in a heavy saucepan. Cook, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture boils. Continue cooking to 250ºF (hard ball stage) without stirring. Remove from heat and immediately beat egg whites until stiff. Pour hot syrup in a fine stream over beaten egg whites, beating constantly at high speed on mixer. Continue beating until mixture forms peaks when dropped from spoon, about 10 minutes. Quickly stir in vanilla and melted chocolate by hand. Blend in nuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Cool. Makes 3 to 4 dozen pieces.
