***MIXTURE # 1***
3 cups sugar
1 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup water
***MIXTURE # 2***
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
OTHER:
3 stiff beaten egg whites
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
Cook mixture # 1 to 250ºF; until it forms a fairly hard ball. Stirring only until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Pour slowly with constant beating over egg whites. At this time start mixture # 2 cooking to 260ºF, very hard ball. Pour into first mixture which has been beaten all the while. Continue beating until candy begins to hold it's shape. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased pan, or drop from tip of spoon on greased paper.
