    Molasses Peanut Crunch

    List of Ingredients




    1 c Molasses
    1 c Sugar
    2 tb Shortening
    1/8 ts Soda
    2 1/2 c Peanuts chopped

    Recipe



    Combine molasses, sugar, and shortening; cook slowly, stirring constantly, until temperature reaches 252 degrees (or when a small quantity dropped in cold water forms firm ball). Remove from heat; add soda; stir until bubbling stops. Add nuts. Pour into greased shallow pan. Cool slighlty; cut in small squares or bars. Wrap in waxed paper. Yield: about 1-3/4 lbs.
