Recipe Introduction
"Cookies and candy together-what could be better-or more fattening? This is a favorite all year round. But for holidays, I use the special packages of candy pieces that are color coordinated with the season. I also double the recipe without doubling the amount of candy and it still turns out great. A good money stretcher too."
List of Ingredients
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
1/3 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-8 ounce package chocolate-coated candiesRecipe
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugars, margarine, shortening, vanilla and egg. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Centers will be soft. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet. These cookies really look nice on a pretty serving plate. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
