    3/4 cup sugar
    1 stick butter
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1 3/4 cups sifted self rising flour
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1 cup chopped pitted dates
    1 cup chopped candied cherries
    1 cup flaked coconut
    1 cup chopped pecans

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 350ºF. Cream together sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, spices and buttermilk; mix thoroughly. Stir in fruit and pecans. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 dozen cookies.
