1 cup butter
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar

Preheat oven to 375ºF. Cut butter into flour and baking soda. Beat the eggs and vanilla until thick and lemon colored. Beat sugar into egg mixture gradually. Combine flour mixture and eggs and mix thoroughly. Chill for 2 hours. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface 1/3 to 1/4-inch thick. Cut to desired shapes with cutters. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
