Fudge Rice Dessert

2 cups milk
1 cup cooked rice
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
TOPPING:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 dash salt
1 1/2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon softened butter
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/4 teaspoon vanillaRecipe
Scald milk in heavy saucepan. Stir in rice. Mix sugar, flour and salt. Whisk into scalded milk. Cook, stirring over medium heat, for 5 minutes. stir small amount of hot mixture into eggs. Then stir back into saucepan. Cook stirring for 1 minute. Add vanilla. Pour into shallow, 1 1/2 quart buttered baking dish. Bake at 300�F for 30 minutes until knife inserted comes out clean. Cool slightly. Spread with fudge topping. Sprinkle with nuts. Let stand until firm.
FUDGE TOPPING: Beat powdered sugar, salt and milk together; stir in butter, chocolate and vanilla. Beat until blended and of spreading consistency.
