    1 cup chocolate chips
    2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
    1/4 cup shortening
    1/2 cup hot milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Melt the chocolate morsels in a pan or mixing bowl that is set in simmering water. Add the confectioners' sugar. shortening, hot milk, and vanilla, and beat until the frosting is thick, smooth and spreadable. You will have enough to fill and frost an 8 inch two-layer cake.
