    Devil's Food: Black Velvet Cake

    1/2 cup slivered almonds
    1 package devil’s food cake mix (18 1/2 ounce)
    1 3 1/2 ounce instant chocolate pudding mix
    4 eggs
    1 cup sour cream
    1/2 cup water
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels
    1 1/2 cups slivered almonds

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray a 10-inch tube pan with non-stick vegetable spray.  Sprinkle almonds on bottom of pan.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, water, oil, extracts, and cinnamon; beat for 4 minutes.  Fold in chocolate morsels and almonds.  Pour into prepared tube pan.

    Bake 60 to 70 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool in pan for 15 minutes.  Remove from pans; cool completely on a wire rack.  Serve topped with whipped cream, if desired.
