    Custard Vanilla Ice Cream

    1 quart whole milk
    2 cups sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    5 eggs, beaten
    1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
    1 1/2 quarts half and half

    Recipe



    Combine sugar, flour and salt. Add enough milk to this to make a thin paste. Stir paste into remaining milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickens slightly, about 15 minutes. Beat eggs and add hot mixture to them gradually. Cook over low heat stirring constantly for about 2 minutes. Cool quickly in refrigerator (not at room temp). Add vanilla and half and half to cooled mixture. Pour into 1 gallon freezer container (fill canister only 2/3 full). Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
