    Sherbet: Easy Strawberry Sherbet

    SHERBET:
    2 cups buttermilk
    1 1/2 cups strawberry freezer jam

    STRAWBERRY FREEZER JAM:
    2 cups fresh mashed strawberry
    4 cups sugar
    3/4 cup water
    1 package powdered pectin

    Recipe

    Strawberry Freezer Jam: Mash strawberries very fine; add sugar and let stand 10 minutes. Place water and pectin in small saucepan; bring to boil. Boil for 1 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from stove and add to strawberries. Stir for 3 minutes. Spoon into clean sterilized jars, leaving 1/2 inch space at top. Seal and let stand at room temp for 24 hours. Store jam in freezer. Yield: 5 cups.

    Sherbet: Stir buttermilk into jam; pour into refrigerator tray and freeze until firm. Cut up frozen mixture. Place in chilled mixer bowl and whip until fluffy. Return to tray, cover and freeze until firm. Yield: 1 quart.
