1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 quart canned fruit

Melt butter in a 9x13 inch pan. Sift all dry ingredients together, then mix well with milk. Pour into baking pan, but do not stir with melted butter. Pour choice of fruit with its juice over batter; do not stir. Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour.
