Steamed Blueberry Pudding w/ Rum Sauce

2 c Blueberries
1 c Molasses
1 t Baking soda
1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Butter
1 t Cinnamon
1 t Cloves
1 t Salt
1 t Alspice
1/2 c Hot water
3 c Flour
-----RUM SAUCE-----
1 c Brown sugar
1/2 c Dark rum
1/2 c Butter
1/4 c Water
Recipe
Mix all pudding ingredients together. Do not over mix. Place mixture in a bowl deep enough to allow it to rise. (May use moulds for specific shapes if desired.) Type of berries may be varied as desired.
Fill a large pot with boiling water. Put blueberry mixture in a cheesecloth (if not using a mould) and tie it in a knot. Place the cloth mixture in a bowl and place bowl inside the large bowl of boiling water. Steam mixture for an hour and a half on maximum. Cover all with a cloth to keep in heat. (You are doing your baking and rising at the same time.) It is done when it is the colour of brown bread or molasses bread.
Prepare sauce by mixing sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Can be served hot or cold. Pour over blueberry pudding.
