From member Bluesparkles: If you're tired of applesauce and bananas, you can use arrowroot powder to thicken just about anything. Remember, it's easier than cornstarch. Arrowroot is what Cooks often use for fruit desserts and glazes.
List of Ingredients
frozen raspberries strawberries or blueberries
water
arrowroot powder
sweetener to taste
Recipe
Add a splash or two of water, if you like, to stretch the fruit. Cook fruit in a saucepan until it starts to boil, then turn down heat.
Separately, mix a teaspoon of arrowroot powder in a couple of teaspoons of cold water in a glass. Carefully and slowly pour and stir this into the hot berry mixture. Do NOT boil again. It will thicken right away, so just let it heat for a minute. If not thick enough, mix more arrowroot and cold water and add to the berry mixture. Keep this up until you have a syrupy thickness you like.
