    Ginger Spiced Pears

    List of Ingredients

    3 cups water
    1/2 cup vinegar
    3 teaspoons sugar (or splenda equivalent)
    16 whole cloves
    2 tablespoons grated peeled gingerroot
    3 cinnamon sticks
    5 pears, peeled, quartered and cored

    Recipe

    In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine water, vinegar, sugar, cloves, gingerroot and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add pears, raise heat and return to a boil, then reduce the heat again and simmer 15 to 20 minutes longer.

    Serve warm, or strain the syrup and refrigerate pears in the syrup.
