    Misc: Legal Pizza

    Source of Recipe

    Tammie's Recipe Collection
    The Crust
    1/2 cup of ground oatmeal
    1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
1/2 tsp of Mrs. Dash Table Blend Seasoning
3 tablespoons of warm water (you may need more to form a semi-moist ball of dough ... the consistency will be corn-mealy but kind of smooth)

Grind up the oatmeal in a food processor or blender until fine. Add the seasoning and baking powder. Slowly add the water a tablespoon at a time until the mixture starts to fuse together. If you need more water add until the mixture is the consistency you need to form the crust. Use a 9 inch pie pan or if you like a 9 inch pizza pan. Spread the dough (make sure it's non-stick) spreading out over the bottom of the entire pan. If you need add a little more water to your fingers so you can make it stretch to the end of the pan. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 5 -10 minutes depending on your oven and your location. Remove and set aside. Bake the crust before adding toppings and sauce!!

    ------------------------------
    The Toppings
Here is the fun you know we can have any free veggie. So add green peppers, mushrooms, tomato, garlic etc. You can also add toppings like ground turkey, chopped fresh turkey, chicken or whatever type of protein you like. I made mine with chopped fresh turkey that was already cooked, mushrooms and green peppers.

    ------------------
The Sauce (or can use chopped tomatoes and Mrs. Dash spices)
1/4 can of tomato paste (no sodium)
1/2 tablespoon of Mrs. Dash Tomato Basil seasoning
1/4 tsp of Mrs. Dash Onion garlic seasoning
    2 tsp of balsamic vinegar
1/4 tablespoon of Splenda (if you like sweet sauce)

In a medium mixing bowl add the tomato paste, seasoning, the vinegar and Splenda. Stir till well blended. Taste to see if you want to add anything. Spread on crust.

After you put on the sauce and toppings, pop back in oven and bake until heated through. Serving size should be two 4 inch slices. Counted as a protein if you use it as a topping and a carb for the oatmeal.

    ---------------------------------------
Original poster's note: Made this pizza again last night WITHOUT the baking powder. As a matter of fact, I made the crust really thin (made the oatmeal a little more moist and spread it out with the back of a large table spoon), topped it with crumbled ground turkey, onions, green peppers, red peppers, yellow peppers and mushrooms. Sliced that puppy up and it was even more delicious cause the crust was sort of crunchy .
