    found this and thought it may be useful for people on the go who need readily portable protein.. says you can use with beef, poultry, pork, even fish (although that sounds a bit scary to me...)

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup tomato juice (no salt added)
    2 tsp cayenne pepper
    1 1/2 tsp dried thyme
    1 1/2 tsp dried basil
    1 1/2 tsp onion powder
    1 tsp white pepper
    1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    1 pound strips of meat (sliced very thin, in narrow strips 1/8 to 3/8 inch thick, 5-6 inches long)

    Recipe



    Mix all ingredients together with the exception of the strips. Allow the ingredients at least 15 minutes for flavors to blend. add strips. Marinate at least 1 hour. For longer marinating, place in the refrigerator in a covered container or in an airtight plastic bag. Remove from marinade and place in a drying environment. (recommend using food dehydrator)
