Recipe Introduction
From member sillylou: This recipe was adapted from the Celestial Seasonings website. Traditional sweet-and-sour meatballs are always a hit. The clove in the tea makes this recipe delightfully different.
List of Ingredients
* 5 Mandarin Orange Spice tea bags (celestial seasonings)
* 1 1/2 cups white wine
* 2 lbs ground lean turkey breast
* 1/4 red onion, diced
* 1 tbsp crushed garlic (4 cloves)
* 1 cup crushed pineapple, drained (packed in it own juice or fresh)
* dash of pepper
* Arrowroot to thicken
Recipe
Steep tea bags in wine for 10 minutes. Squeeze tea bags gently and then discard. Set wine aside.
Blend turkey, onion, garlic, and pepper in a large bowl. Pour 3/4 cup of wine into meat and mix well. Form into small meatballs (yields 35-40 meatballs).
Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium flame and brown meatballs. Remove meatballs and set aside on a warm platter. Carefully pour any grease out of skillet. Add remaining wine and pineapple to skillet. Stir over medium heat and thicken slightly with arrowroot. Add meatballs to sauce mixture and simmer 15 minutes.
