1 pound turnips, peeled and trimmed
Recipe
Peel and quarter turnips. (Cube larger turnips. Small, tender ones can be scrubbed and cooked whole.) Place in a saucepan and with enough water to cover; boil until tender (10 to 15 minutes for cubed, 35 to 40 minutes for small, whole turnips). Drain and mash or press through a fine sieve. Serve hot.
