    • 1 LB. FLOUR
    • 2 TABLESPOONS MOLASSES
    • 1 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1 OZ. SUGAR
    • 1/4 TEASPOON SALT
    • BUTTERMILK (ENOUGH TO MOISTEN FLOUR WHEN MAKING - USUALLY ABOUT 5 OZS.
    • PINCH OF GROUND GINGER (IF YOU WISH)
    • HEA


    Instructions


    1. HEAT THE MOLASSES.

    2. PUT DRY INGREDIENTS THROUGH SIEVE

    3. IN BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, BUTTERMILK AND MOLASSES AND MIX TO A DOUGH

    4. KNEAD ON FLOURED COUNTER FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES.

    5. SHAPE INTO CIRCLE AND CUT INTO FOUR WEDGES

    6. COOK SLOWLY ON FLOURED GRIDDLE OR FRYING PAN UNTIL BREAD RISES AND THERE IS A SKIN ON TOP, APPROXIMATELY 5-6 MINUTES.

    7. INCREASE HEAT UNTIL BROWN UNDERNEATH. TURN GENTLY AND BROWN ON BOTH SIDES

    8. TAKES APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES COOKING TIME ALL TOGETHER
