    Dried Cherry Scones

    List of Ingredients


    • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3 Tbsp sugar
    • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 6 Tbsp (3/4 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
    • 1/2 cup chopped dried tart cherries
    • 1/3 cup buttermilk
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp grated orange peel


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 400° F. Spray baking sheet with nonstick vegetable oil spray.

    2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl to blend. Add butter; rub in with fingertips until pea-size pieces form. Stir in cherries. Whisk buttermilk, egg, vanilla and orange peel in small bowl. Add egg mixture to flour mixture; stir just until dough forms.

    3. Shape dough into 6-inch round on prepared sheet. Cut into 8 wedges, spacing 1-1/2 inches apart. Bake scones until golden, about 15 minutes.

      Makes 8
