    Yellow Cornbread

    List of Ingredients


    • 1-1/4 cups yellow cornmeal
    • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 Tbsp sugar
    • 2-1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
    • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
    • 1-1/2 cups buttermilk


    Instructions


    1. Heat a well-greased 10-inch ovenproof skillet at 450 degrees (F) for 5 minutes.

    2. Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl. Stir together egg and next two ingredients; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

    3. Pour batter into the hot skillet. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes, or until golden.

      Makes 8 to 10 servings.
