    Captain Marvel's Cheeseburgers

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
    • 6 slices bacon
    • 6 green onions, minced
    • 1 beaten egg
    • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 Tbsp chili sauce
    • 2 to 3 Tbsp cold tomato juice
    • 2/3 cup grated Cheddar cheese
    • 8 whole wheat buns


    Instructions


    1. Fry the bacon in a skillet; remove when done and crumble when cool.

    2. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon bacon fat from pan and saute the onions 2 minutes.

    3. Put the beef into a large bowl; add the bacon, onions and all the other ingredients. Form into 8 patties, then chill in the refrigerator until dinner time.

    4. Saute the patties in the skillet or, if you prefer cooking them on the barbecue, figure 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Serve in warm buttered buns.

      Makes 8 burgers.

      NOTE: If you like sauteed onions on your burgers, slice 2 Walla Wallas, then saute over medium heat in olive oil or leftover bacon grease. Add salt and pepper to taste.
